MESSAGE FROM THE SRC PRESIDENT

Today happens to be the tomorrow we talked about yesterday and all too soon our reign as prefect of the school is in progress. The official name of the school is OUR LADY OF APOSTLES GIRLS’. Perseverance and Dignity being our motto, we persevere in being trained holistically and with Catholic ethos, Mary, the mother of Jesus under whose patronage the school is being placed. The school being holistic, the vision of the school is to bring holistic and affordable education to Ghanaian girl child for national development. The school being a discipline institution, students abide by the school rules and regulations to ensure a healthy relationship between the student body and the entire administration. As the SRC president, the students voice are being passed to the head girl to ensure that the administration hear their voice and make things clear to the student body.

Students are engaged in a lot of activities like sports, stem, debates, NSMQ and many more. Recently, some students competed in the STEM-novation club and emerged 6th during finals and this contribute to the achievement of the school. Though we students are sometimes stubborn but I think we are not doing badly in all aspects because we are attracting people everywhere, thus, students from every part of Ghana and even outside Ghana are in OLA Girls’ Secondary School.

Recent Happenings in the School

 

Our Lady of Apostles Girls’ Kenyasi popularly known as OLA Girls’ Secondary School has been known for its academic excellence. Recently, several celebrations and programs has been going on in the school and as the executives of the Students Representative Council (SRC), this is our report on the recent happenings in the school.

Not any longer, which is on 21st July 2024 the administration and PTA of OLA Girls’ Kenyasi organized a family fun day, where parents, housemistress and masters, student and teachers had fun according to the houses they are, with this, student (both form 2s and 3s) was able to receive advice from their parents and guardians to use as a life guide.

On 22nd July which was Monday, there was an entrepreneur talk, where big personalities in business and enterprise share their experience in the business life with we so that those of the students who prefer to pursue into business will know how to go about it.

The day to forever remember, which was 23rd July, 2024, the day the atmosphere of the school changed. All the student, teachers (teaching and non-teachings) goes traditional by wearing their tribes costume according to region. This day was a great seen for everyone to witness.

On 24th July, we had a general cleanup exercise where house prefects and mistress supervised for their hose members to clean up their house plot and other exercise.

A superb cooking competition was regional bases, the school changed from institution to cultural arena. We used our previous regions which are Ashanti, Eastern, Western, Grater Accra, Central, Upper west, Upper east, Northern and Volta. These regions displayed their local foods that we all didn’t expect. Some of this food was Fufu, Tuozaafi, nuhuu etc.

OLA goes traditional again. On 26th July, there was a grand durbar where students from different regions gave performances on the history of their regions. The school celebrated their SRC with invited schools around and also a famous artist which made it memorable. The last day, Sunday, was the Thanksgiving Day in which the students go traditional again, to give thanks to God for supporting the school throughout the programs.

Not to forget about one thing. The graduation and swearing-in of the newly elected prefects took place on the 13th of September 2024. The outgoing prefect handed over their positions to the newly elected prefects. Awards were giving to the best student of all the courses.

The recent happenings of the school have motivated the students in so many ways which has helped the student to gain knowledge about things they know nothing about. All thanks to the almighty God and to the school authority for managing, organizing and participating throughout the journey.
