Membership and Structure

The chaplaincy consists of priests, religious sisters and selected lay apostolates who help manage and plan activities for the spiritual growth of both staff and students. As at now the chaplain, Fr. Emmanuel Asante Wiredu serves as the chair of the committee, with the following who actively supports him namely, Sr. Sarah Korkor, Fr. Samuel Osei Kuffour, Mr Ampah, Mr. Richard Anakpi, Mr. Evans ( chancellor) and Mad. Beatrice Adongo.

Key Activities

  1. Eucharistic Celebrations: These years our chaplain with the priests in Kenyasi Parish celebrate mass in the school every Sunday and Wednesday. We also join with the sisters on Monday, Thursday and Fridays in their convent for mass.
  2. Periodic Recollections and Retreat Programmes: As part of our spiritual programmes, we organize periodic recollections for students on year group basis at the beginning of the semester as well as yearly prayer sessions for the form threes in preparation of their WASSCE. The Association of Catholic Teachers get the chance to have their retreats sometimes outside the school premise to build up a strong relationship with their creator.
  3.  Partner with Counseling Team: We collaborate with the Counseling team to run workshops on mental health awareness, Teenage Pregnancy and offer group and individual counseling sessions. These sessions draw facilitators from diverse backgrounds. These programmes have fostered greater understanding and solidarity within the OLA community.
  4. Collaborative Events: We partnered with various religious sects in the school to host interfaith dialogues, programmes and community service projects. Notable among them is the yearly celebration of Carol Service. These events have strengthened relationships among different faith groups, promoting a culture of respect and cooperation.

Challenges

While we celebrate our successes, we also acknowledge the challenges we encountered:

  • Increased Demand for Services and facility: The need for spiritual support has surged, placing strain on our resources and the priests. We are actively seeking volunteers and partnerships to meet this growing demand and a condusive and spacious place of worship.

Conclusion

  • The work of chaplaincy is both challenging and rewarding. Each interaction offers a chance to connect, heal, and uplift one another. We are grateful for the support of our community and look forward to a more collaboration and meaningful service for the foreseeable years ahead. We wish ourselves the best of everything as we deliver impactful service, discipline and dedication to God and humanity.
